Registration Fee Proclamation:

The Gary District High School Alumni Association Board of Directors recently placed a cap on previously published registration fees for the 55th School Reunion.

As a result, all registrants from April 23, 2024, through June 30, 2024 will only pay $175.00 per person. Registration fees can only be made by check or money order, payable to:

Please be advised that there will be no registrations accepted after June 30, 2024, and NO ON SITE registrations.

The Reunion Committee reports that over 50 Garyites have paid and registered to attend the 55th School Reunion, July 24th – 28th, 2024. The Committee is highly concerned that some of those individuals have not made hotel registrations.

It is critical that immediately after Reunion registration is acknowledged, individuals must, shortly thereafter, contact the host hotel, Embassy Suites by Hilton, Old Town Alexandria, VA. The address is: 1900 Diagonal Road, Alexandria, VA 22314. The telephone number is 703-684-5900. Advise the operator that you are an affiliate of the Gary District High School Alumni Association, and you wish to make hotel reservations. In order to get GDHSAA Reunion discounted room rates, please provide Access Code “GDH”.

The hotel is easily accessible from the airport (The King Street Metro station is across the street from the hotel.) Room rates are $169 + tax for King, and $179 + tax for Double size room.

You are also reminded that registration for this reunion is on a tiered scale:

Register on or before March 15, 2024 - $150.00 per person.
Register after March 15, 2024, and by April 14, 2024 - $175.00 per person.
Register after April 15, 2024, and by May 15, 2024 - $200.00 per person.
Registration after May 15, 20225, and by June 30, 2024 - $225.00 per person

June 30, 2024 is the cutoff date to register. There will be no registrations accepted after June 30, 2024, and NO ON-SITE registration!

Garyites, the first deadline to submit early registration for the 55th reunion is March 15, 2024. Before you know it, that date will be here! After March 15, it costs you more to register!

Your reunion committee is diligently working to make this reunion a success. There are topics that require clarification.

Scholarships:

The registration letter does not provide a space for submitting additional funds for scholarships. Therefore, should you desire to include additional funds specifically for scholarships, simply include that amount in your check. Or you may submit a separate check specifically for the Scholarship Fund.

Golf:

For those of you considering playing golf, efforts are being made to obtain a minivan or small bus to transport you, your golf clubs and for your return to the hotel. When you submit your registration, please advise your intent to play golf on Friday. Since the course is on a military base, security is strict and you will be required to provide personal information, i.e., social security number, date of birth, drivers license, etc. to be a guest on the base. Let us know if you intend to play golf and provide a contact number. Either Ronald Bell or Vernon Swayne will contact you to obtain the required personal information.

GDHS Teachers:

As we all know, our teachers and staff were second to none. The committee has decided to honor former GDHS teachers and staff by waiving their registration fee should either decide to attend the 55th reunion. Please help us by spreading the word if you know someone who qualifies for this discount.

Thanks to the Detroit Chapter for putting together an exciting weekend for our families, alumni and friends. We hope that everyone enjoyed not only the activities but the amazing "New Detroit!"
